Sushma is an investor with over 16 years of deep expertise in early and early growth-stage investing. Sushma has worked to identify, scale and exit a large number of companies and has worked closely with several entrepreneurs.
She has seen multiple seed-to-IPO journeys and has a deep understanding of investing across cycles. She has been an active representative on the Boards of several companies like Utkarsh Bank, Arohan Microfinance, Altum Credo Home Finance, Desert Artisans (A FabIndia company) etc. She started as an entrepreneur in engineering services and moved on to roles in investments.
She was a partner at one of India’s pioneering Impact funds- Aavishkaar Capital, investing across sectors with an impact theme. Before that, she was part of the acquisition team at Starwood Capital where she evaluated diverse real estate assets.
Sushma has completed a strategic leadership program at the Harvard Business School. She is an engineering graduate from RVCE, Bangalore and has an MBA from the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad.
Sushma loves solving problems and puzzles and in her free time advises startup founders across sectors. She was recognized as the “40 UNDER 40” Alternate investment professional in India and as one of the “Top 100 Women in Finance-2020” in the “leading” category. She was recently recognized as the VC of the year -2023 by WinPE (Women in Private Equity). Sushma is an active participant in various Industry bodies including GPCA (Global Private Capital Association), IVCA (India Venture Capital
association) and Impact Investors Council.
