Dr. Agarwal is a distinguished Mechanical Engineer from BITS Pilani and completed his Master’s and Doctoral degrees at the University of Minnesota and Columbia University. He began his career at Bell Telephone Labs and then as a faculty member at the prestigious Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta, where he also served on the board and mentored doctoral students. His academic contributions extended to institutions like Northeastern University, University of Lowell, and MIT Sloan School as a Visiting Professor and Ford Fellow.
Transitioning to entrepreneurship in 1986, Dr. Agarwal founded several successful IT companies, including Era Software Systems, SQL Star International, Cyber Media India, and ACS Technologies. Two companies got listed on the Stock Exchange in India and one at Nasdaq. He is also renowned for his advocacy in e-governance, founding the Special Interest Group on e-governance of the Computer Society of India. His social impact initiatives include founding Engineers without Borders India and active involvement with NGOs like Nirmaan, showcasing his commitment to education and societal improvement.
